Privacy Policy

VibeDine helps you decide where to eat — one confident pick, what to order, an honest read, and a couple of backups. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain because that's how we'd want it.
What we collect
- Account info — if you sign in (Google, Apple, or email), we store your name and email address. You can use VibeDine as a guest without an account.
- Location — to recommend places you can actually get to. You choose how: share device location, or type a city/ZIP. You can decline precise location and use a city instead.
- Your activity— the vibes you describe, picks you receive and act on, refinements, favorites, and group sessions. For signed-in users this builds a taste profile so recommendations get better over time. If you're a guest, your device is given a random token (stored only in your browser, no name or email attached) so these picks can improve our matching without identifying you; clearing your browser storage resets it.
- Basic technical data — standard request information (e.g. IP address) used for rate-limiting and abuse prevention.
We do not ask for or store payment card numbers — if and when paid plans launch, payments are handled by our payment processor and card details never touch our servers.
How we use it
- Generate and personalize your recommendations.
- Run group sessions and shared picks you create.
- Keep you signed in and sync your saved spots across devices.
- Protect the service (rate limits, fraud/abuse prevention).
- Improve VibeDine in aggregate.
Who we share it with
We use a small set of service providers to run VibeDine. We share only what each needs, and we do not sell your personal information.
- Google Maps Platform & Google Gemini — to find places and ground recommendations. Your vibe text and location are sent to generate results.
- Convex & Vercel — backend, database, and hosting.
- Ordering & reservation partners(e.g. DoorDash, Uber Eats) — when you tap an order/reserve link you leave VibeDine and continue under that company's terms and privacy policy.
- Payment processor — if you subscribe to a paid plan, to process the payment (we receive only a customer reference and subscription status).
- Legal — if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the service.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to operate the service. We don't use advertising trackers.
Your choices & rights
- Use VibeDine as a guest, without an account.
- Decline precise location and enter a city/ZIP instead.
- Access, correct, or delete your account data — email us and we'll help.
Data retention
We keep account and activity data while your account is active. Operational logs (e.g. rate-limit counters) are short-lived. Ask us to delete your account and we'll remove your personal data, except where we must retain it for legal reasons.
Children
VibeDine isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy as VibeDine evolves. We'll revise the date above and, for material changes, give notice in the app.
